Phone numbers
Buy and manage the phone numbers used for calling, live transfers and SMS in each workspace.
Buying a number
Open Phone numbers, find the workspace you want, and choose Buy number. Pick a country (and optionally an area code), select a number from the list, and confirm the purchase. You're charged a one-time setup fee plus the first month upfront; after that only the monthly fee is taken from your wallet.
Each number shows its type (Local, National, Mobile or Toll-free) with the exact setup fee, monthly fee and total charged today - the same prices that are debited at purchase. If a price can't be shown for a number type, that number is marked Unavailable and can't be selected; contact support so the rate can be added.
US SMS verification
The first US identity application collects both the business brand details and the complete SMS campaign. Review the use case, campaign description, opt-in page, consent flow, sample messages, Privacy Policy and Terms before submitting. A hosted opt-in page is filled automatically if you do not have your own consent form. Review & submit stays unavailable until every required item is saved, so a partial campaign is never sent for carrier review.
Countries that require manual provisioning
Some countries don't allow phone numbers to be bought instantly - the regulator requires a compliance submission before a number can be issued. This currently applies to:
- Australia (+61)
- Ireland (+353)
For these countries you won't see a list of numbers to buy. Instead, the purchase window shows a short compliance form with exactly the details the regulator requires (registered business details, physical address in that country, contact information, and any country-specific declarations such as the Australian purchaser confirmation and date of birth).
How the request works
- Choose the country and the type of number you need (for example local, mobile or toll-free).
- Fill in the compliance details. Hover the (i) icons for the full regulator explanation of any field.
- Select Review request. You'll see the exact, complete message that will be sent to our team - nothing is sent behind your back.
- From the review screen you can Copy the message, Open in email to send it yourself (remember to attach the listed supporting documents, such as proof of address), or Send to support to submit it directly from the app.
Our team then places the order with the carrier and attaches the number to your workspace, typically within 3-5 business days.
Documents
Any documents that must be uploaded (for example a recent utility bill as proof of address, or a business registration certificate) are listed in the form and again in the message. Attach them to the email so we can complete the submission in one pass.
Who gets notified
Assignment controls notifications as well as ringing:
- Shared (Everyone) — inbound calls ring every team member, and inbound SMS/iMessage/WhatsApp notifications (push and email) go to everyone with the preference on.
- Assigned to one person — only that person's app rings, and only they receive the message notifications for that number.
So if you have two numbers, one assigned to person A and one to person B, each person only hears about the number they're assigned to.
Messaging profiles for regulated countries
In the US, UK, Ireland and Australia, a number can only be bought under a business identity that has its own messaging profile. If an identity is approved but has no profile yet, open Regulatory & Identities and press Create messaging profile on that identity — it is created for you and, in the US, linked to your approved 10DLC campaign. The purchase panel shows an amber warning naming the missing profile until this is done. Voice-only workspaces are exempt and can buy numbers without a messaging profile.
